Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has reporting processes in place for parents and staff to report a positive COVID-19 test result.
Any CCPS staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 should:
Send an email to covid@ccboe.com.
Report the result to their immediate supervisor.
Parents should report any positive COVID-19 student results directly to their child’s school.
To ease with communication about when a positive student or staff member should return to school, CCPS has published return-to-school/work charts information at https://www.ccboe.com/quick-links/covid-19-resources. The charts include recommendations based on symptom onset or date of positive test results (when no symptoms are present), and when the individual should return to school or work. The recommendations follow procedures outlined in the CCPS COVID-19 standard operating procedures. The information also includes what to do if a staff member or student is exposed to COVID-19.
Schools are no longer sending community letters about new COVID-19 positive cases. This update was shared with parents and staff last month. Any student or staff member identified as possibly exposed to a COVID-19 positive person at school will be contacted directly by school system staff. There are no changes to the contact tracing process and notification to exposed individuals.
The COVID-19 data dashboard updates daily Monday through Friday. The dashboard includes daily case reports of students and staff, and users can review data by date and school. The COVID-19 dashboard features real-time CCPS data. The timely reporting of positive cases from parents and staff ensures CCPS and the community have an accurate understanding of COVID-19 in schools. The dashboard is located at https://www.ccboe.com/quick-links/covid-19-dashboard. Staff, parents, students and community members can follow COVID-19 reports for schools, centers and buildings using the dashboard.
