Over the past two months, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) has received many hygiene packages, coats and everyday items for students and their families.

Last month, the Charles County School Bus Contractors Association’s coat drive provided 300 coats for CCPS students. CCPS also received toiletry packages from Diane Wilson, president of Sister’s Keepers, Inc., a faith-based organization focusing on encouraging women through community outreach opportunities, annual women’s conferences and other events.

Wilson said that growing up in school she did not have necessary items such as body soap or laundry detergent and the embarrassment that came with bullying was enough for her to make sure no other student had to go through what she did.

Through Sister’s Keepers, she and others in the organization have been donating to schools and community members for over 27 years. “No one should ever have to go without necessary everyday items such as soap,” she said. “We [Sister’s Keepers] hope to continue to give to those in need throughout the year.”

“Myself and the PPW's are so excited to receive the toiletries on behalf of our students, Linda Stocks, supervising PPW said. “Our families will truly appreciate having not just basic toiletries but laundry detergent as well which is much needed.”
